Following the orders from the Election Commission, the Aadhaar seeding with voter identity cards in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) limits has been stopped, GHMC Commissioner and Special Officer Somesh Kumar said here on Monday. The information collected so far as part of the exercise would not be used for identification of any kind or any other requirement, he clarified in a press release.

However, the verification of electoral rolls was continuing and as part of it, the booth level officers would be identifying the duplicate voters, shifted and others, he added.

The GHMC on Monday has cleared tenders for the project of providing garbage bins to 22 lakh households in the city and necessary orders were issued by GHMC Commissioner and Special Officer Somesh Kumar.

As part of the project, the civic body on Monday has approved the price of 12 litre capacity plastic garbage bins as Rs.65.70 following the completion of tendering process.

The State government had permitted the GHMC to acquire 44 lakh garbage bins with a budget of Rs.41.40 crore and supply two each to every household in the city.
Following a call made by the civic body, 21 tenders were submitted initially out of which 17 were found to be eligible, according to a press release.

The minimum price of Rs.65.70 was quoted by a company and seven others too offered to provide the bins at the same cost. Following this, Mr. Somesh Kumar gave a nod for the tender approved by the high-level officers’ team on handing over the project to eight companies, the press release added.
