NONGSTOIN: The Khasi Students’ Union West Khasi Hill Unit has appealed to district Deputy Commissioner, S. Kharlyngdoh, demanding postponement of the Aadhaar enrolment in the district until a clear explanation will be given by the government to ensure that the registration would be only for the Khasi people and not for outsiders.
W. Lyngkhoi, general secretary of KSU WKH unit, also questioned why Aadhaar registration was launched only in West Khasi Hills but not in the others district.
He further added that the KSU would meet the government to ensure that the Aadhaar enrolment would not affect the Khasi people and the State as a whole.
