LPG distributors in the district have been directed to convert Bank Transfer Compliant (BTC) consumers to Aadhaar Transfer Compliant (ATC) before December 31, 2015.

This means all domestic LPG consumers who are availing subsidy without seeding their Aadhaar card details with their consumer numbers and bank accounts, have to furnish Aadhaar details to the bank and the LPG agency within the next two months.

At present, almost 80 per cent to 85 per cent of the domestic LPG consumers in the district get the subsidy amount credited to their banks accounts under the ATC. This means such consumers have submitted their Aadhaar card details and it has been linked with their bank account and LPG consumer number. Such consumers have nothing to worry about.

But there are some consumers who are yet to submit the Aadhaar card number but have linked their bank account with the LPG consumer number and continue to receive the LPG subsidy in their bank accounts. Such consumers will now have to submit the Aadhaar card details, according to Mehul Patel, an LPG distributor in the city.
All LGP distributors have received a communiqué from the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas which has also directed the Oil Marketing Companies to furnish the timeline for collection of Aadhaar details from all the bank transfer compliant consumers. The communiqué dated November 2, 2015 has directed the companies to complete Aadhaar seeding for all BTC consumers latest by December 31, 2015. “However, there is no mention of what happens in case the consumers fail to furnish Aadhaar details by the cut-off date,” said Mr. Patel.
Besides, the distributors have been asked to establish an Aadhaar centre on their premises to cater to such consumers who do not have Aadhaar cards. “Distributor agencies will have to establish a counter to facilitate the issuance of Aadhaar and the facility – which will be temporary – will become operational in due course,” he said.
For those not keen on securing the Aadhaar or furnishing the details, there is also the option of giving up their LPG subsidy, he added. There are nearly 5.88 lakh domestic LPG consumers in the district and Mysuru is one of the districts where the pilot scheme on direct benefit transfer for LPG (DBTL) was launched due to nearly 90 per cent coverage of Aadhaar.
