The UT administration has decided to get satellite imagery of all properties falling under its jurisdiction and link all urban and rural land records with Aadhaar cards in six months.
UT deputy commissioner Ajit Balaji Joshi, while addressing the media at DC office, Sector 17, on Wednesday, stated that Chandigarh would be the first state where the urban land records would be linked to the Aadhaar card.
He also highlighted that the satellite imagery of all commercial, residential and institution properties would begin in the city in six months after the process of linking the land records to Aadhaar cards. The property registration in Chandigarh would be linked to Aadhaar cards.
Giving details about the process of satellite imagery, Joshi said through satellite everything would be mapped; ownership data would be linked. The entire record of the properties such as property transaction, building plans, violations would be recorded and any kind of changes in the property would be updated.
The work in this direction would start in two and a half months and by the end of the next year, the entire city would be mapped through satellite imagery.
With the property being linked with satellite data, the property owner, even while sitting abroad, would be able to see his or her property and would be able to track even the changes or any kind of encroachment at the property.
He said the digitisation of 100% urban and rural land record would be undertaken. The administration will also conduct a couple of sale deeds online. Every property file will have a satellite imagery of the property attached to it.
Once the files get digitised, the residents will be able to see where the file is stuck up and the administration officials will also be able to track pending files and branch-wise complaints.
UT estate office to get CCTV cameras
In an effort to check the nexus of touts and to bring transparency, the DC has recommended the installation of CCTV cameras. Only the concerned allottees, beneficiaries or applicants whose files are being dealt with by the estate office should be entering the estate office. The trespassers coming without any work will face action. The CCTV cameras will be installed in the next two months. The DC also intends to come up with a concept of introducing ‘concluding title’ for properties in next six months.
Issues ailing estate office
The building plans of the city residents have been found lying pending for years. Ajit Balaji Joshi said, “I have received several complaints where residents stated that they had to come several times for getting the building plans sanctioned. The delays in transfer of properties and providing flats to the underprivileged are two other issues which the DC plans to improve upon.
