Five Reasons why people of Meghalaya are skeptical about Aadhaar

It is a known fact that the people of the state are a little skeptical when it comes to accepting the Aadhaar identification card or number and the reasons varies from persons to persons.
#1
The foremost reason why the people of the Christian dominated state of Meghalaya are hesitant to welcome Aadhaar is because of the identification number—so presumed to be ‘666’ or the number of the Devil. Funny as it may sound, the defendants of the money  bill  titled–“Aadhaar  (Targeted  Delivery  of  Financial  and  Other  Subsidies,  Benefits  and  Services)  Bill,  2016 while brushing aside the rumours of the ‘666’ number, stated that the 12 digit in the Aadhaar card are but the 12 Apostels of Christ.

#2
Reasonable fear of intrusion which means the possible collision with the right to privacy of the Indian Constitution and a clause which is still debatable in the court of Law.

#3
The fact that only 1 percent of the people in Meghalaya already possessed Aadhaar card depicts the large scale confusion amongst the takers in the state as they fear that this claimed that possible implementation of the act will pose a threat to the indigenous tribes of Meghalaya as it is directly linked to the National Population Registration (NPR), the proceeding of which has been temporarily over allegations of improper registration.

#4
If Aadhaar is linked to all the social security benefits and developmental schemes, people fear that they will be forced to accept the same, an approach which infringes the freedom of the citizens. The topic which is also still debatable in the court of Law.

#5

Since the identification will be done via a code which will be included in the central data—Central Identity Data Repository (CIDR) which will be accessible only through a one-time password, people fear that mistakes of any kinds or unforeseeable events in life will cost them dearly.
