Panaji: Credai Goa has written to the state government strongly objecting to the proposal to make it mandatory to present the Aadhaar card while executing a sale deed or agreement of sale.
"When such decisions are taken, you should give representation to CREDAI-GOA, the body which is representing the developers in Goa, to avoid the hardships caused by taking unilateral decisions without any consequences of it on implementation," Credai president Jagannath (Desh) Prabhudessai said in a terse note addressed to the state registrar cum head of notary services, P S S Bodke.
Prabhudessai explained that most developers had registered companies or partnership firms and that such corporate entities could not hold any Aadhaar card.
"For such entities one cannot insist on Aadhaar card for such entities at the time of sale deed or agreement of sale," Prabhudessai said while going on to urge the government to instruct all sub-registrars not to insist on Aadhar card for real estate transactions.
"There are many NRIs, holding OCI/ PIO cards , who are eligible to buy premises and they do not have Aadhaar cards. What will happen to such transactions? Such type of points should have been taken into consideration while taking such unilateral decisions," Prabhudessai said.
