The government today informed the Lok Sabha that over 11 lakh 56 thousand Permanent Account Numbers have been de-activated so far. The process of de-activation of additional PAN cards allotted to taxpayers is going on.
In a written reply, Minister of State for Finance Jayant Sinha said that the seeding of Aadhaar cards in PAN database has started on a voluntary basis. This will help curb the duplicate PAN allotments. He said addition of mother’s name in the PAN database will also help in identifying duplicate PAN cards.
