With the introduction of Aadhaar verification, this can potentially come down to a mere 15 minutes, while also cutting down the hiring costs

Recruitment process for companies is to become shorter as recruiters have started using Aadhaar to verify employees while hiring them.

Presently, the normal verification process to check all the details of a candidate requires at least a week’s time. With the introduction of Aadhaar verification, this can potentially come down to a mere 15 minutes, while also cutting down the hiring costs, according to a report in the Economic Times.
The move is expected to eliminate the need for new hires to produce a bunch of documents such as residence proof. It is also intended to streamline the paperwork.
The verification process

The main component in the Aadhaar verification for employment is the Aadhaar app.
Candidates in the hiring process will get a notification on the app or by SMS. Authentication is carried out through OTP or fingerprint on a scanning device provided by the company.
Then the candidates fill a form on the phone, upload documents supporting their declarations, and signs it at the end on the phone.
The quality control executive verifies those documents. On his validation, forms related to insurance or provident fund are generated automatically. And the process is finished in less than half an hour.
The perks
According to the ET report, contract-based staffing firm Quess, a major employer in India, has already inducted over 30,000 employees, both blue collar and white collar, within 4 months with the use of Aadhaar verification.
The company said the earlier verification process needed manpower of 35-40 people while now it has come down to a fifth of that. The tedious employee verification process, which required making calls to references and visiting residence, needed to be outsourced to agencies.
The cost of hiring for Quess also came down by about 60 percent. The cost of Aadhaar-based verification can be as less as Rs 15 per person.
Aadhaar verification will make such frauds related to use of fake or multiple IDs difficult to take place.
However, Aadhaar verification will not work for jobs where police verification is mandatory.
