12521 - Aadhaar shows 1500 teachers in Awadh university have multiple jobs - Times of India

FAIZABAD: More than 1,500 teachers have been found to be working in more than one college in Awadh University of Faizabad. This was revealed after names of teachers were entered in the university's database after Aadhaar verification.

Of 10,000 teachers working in affiliated colleges of the University, the names of 6,445 were entered in the database. As many as 1,528 teachers were found to be teaching at the same time in multiple colleges and also drawing salaries from these colleges.

Many teachers were found to be enrolled in more than 10 colleges. The university had ordered linking of Aadhaar with teachers' appointments and created electronic database of all teachers of the 654 affiliated colleges across 10 districts of eastern UP. Member of the executive committee of Awadh University Om Prakash Singh said, "The government must take action over this big fraud. People from vice chancellor to management of private colleges and also teachers who got themselves enrolled in multiple colleges are involved in this. Public money is being embezzled in the name of education."

Registrar of the university Sanjay Kumar said, "We have issued notices to managements of all private colleges to file their clarifications by December 23 with affidavits of teachers working in their colleges and details of their bank accounts."
