Principal Secretary, e-Governance, M.N. Vidyashankar, who inaugurated the workshop, said Mysore district had achieved 50 per cent enrolment in the project. Karnataka was ahead of other States in its implementation; nearly 22 lakh of the 30 lakh people enrolled for the Unique Identity (UID) numbers were from the State, he said.
June 30 is the deadline to cover the remaining residents in the district so that Mysore may be the first “UID-enrolled district” in the country, he said.
“We are hoping to reach the target of enrolling the remaining residents by May or June,” chief executive officer of the e-Governance Department D.S. Ravindran said.
Until April 10, 14.57 lakh residents of Mysore district have been enrolled for the UID number.
Speaking after releasing a booklet on Aadhaar, zilla panchayat chief executive officer G. Satyavathi said Aadhaar would become a key identity number.
