2041 - Aadhaar work to banned firm - Deccan Chronicle

December 4, 2011 By L. Venkat Ram Reddy DC Hyderabad

Despite the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) imposing a ban on the Aadhaar card enrolment agency, Madras Security Printers Pvt. Ltd, in October, the state government is continuing with its services in three districts — Ranga Reddy, Chittoor and East Godavari.
The agency was found sub-contracting work to other vendors.

The government has also received several complaints against the agency for misusing the data collected by it for input into the Aadhaar database. They were accused of selling the data to private firms and its sub-contractors allegedly collected `200 to enrol people and issue acknowledgement slips.

The UIDAI banned two of its largest enrolment agencies — Madras Security Printers and Alankit Assignments — from further enrolments in 2011-12 for violating the norms.

The government had directed the respective district collectors to inquire into the issue. The inquiry report confirmed the complaints of sub-contracting the work against the norms and referred the issue to the UIDAI authorities.

The department floated open tenders in March, and selected eight agencies. Of them, Madras Security Printers Pvt. Ltd bagged the contract for Aadhaar work in Ranga Reddy, Chittoor and East Godavari.

Minister for civil supplies D. Sridhar Babu maintained that the government will implement UIDAI orders.
