Presenting his maiden Railway Budget 2013-14 in the Parliament today,
Pawan Kumar Bansal, Minister for Railways, Government of India, said that
Railways will use the Aadhar database for bookings and validation of passengers,
and that special air-conditioned coaches would be introduced in select Shatabdi
and Rajdhani trains with commensurate fares.
The Minister added that bookings on the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism
Corporation (IRCTC) website would be strengthened with an e-ticketing system
to prevent delays. Also, internet booking hours would be increased and e-booking
would be made available on mobile phones.
