Telangana students, who meet the local status criteria, are also eligible

The A.P. government has introduced several new norms to check the misuse of post-matric scholarships by the students and they include linking the Aadhaar card details and obtaining the Income Tax Permanent Account Number (PAN) and vehicles’ details owned by the parents.
The government has also made it clear that Telangana students, who become ‘local’ to AP by virtue of their education, are also eligible for scholarships apart from AP students studying in Telangana. The local status of the student will be decided as per the provisions of Article 371-D.
The orders issued on Saturday said that students have to mandatorily disclose the Aadhaar (UID) number of the father and the mother in addition to their own at the time of filing the application for both fresh and renewal of scholarships.
It also mandatory to disclose PAN if possessed either by the student or the father or the mother. Students of EBC-OC, Minorities-OC and Physically Challenged categories applying for fresh claims or renewals must obtain the nativity certificate issued by the Tahsildar through the Meeseva after June 2, 2014. The income certificates issued by the Tahsildar concerned through Meeseva after June 2, 2014, will only be valid for the fresh applicants.
The enhanced income ceiling limit of Rs. 2 lakh per annum and the enhanced maintenance fees in respect of the students belonging to the SC and ST community will continue to be in force. The norms will be applicable to all the SC/ST/BC/ EBC/Minorities and physically challenged students for the academic year 2014-15.
