7356 - Aadhaar enrolment: biometric details collected from 11.22 lakh people - The Hindu

Of the total 16,02,732 people in the district, recording of biometric details for Aadhaar enrolment was completed for 11,22,805 people.

Under the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) programme, enrolment of biometric details was being carried out in five Revenue Divisional Offices, apart from five offices of the municipalities in the district.

A new enrolment centre was opened on the Collectorate premises here on Tuesday by District Collector V. Dakshinamoorthy.

The Collector said that biometric details of 10,85,580 people were already captured and records updated. Filled-in-applications were received from 5,17,152 people and process under way to update their records.

He said that, 22,756 people have enrolled themselves in the 10 centres, 14,469 people enrolled through mobile centres in the district. Hence, biometric details of 37,225 people have been updated , he added.

The Collector said that persons who have registered themselves in the National Population Registry (NPR) and received acknowledgement card, but failed to record their biometric details can visit the centres in their respective areas and complete the process.

Also, people who did not register with the NPR and also did not receive the acknowledgement card, can wait till next month for the announcements for new enrolment. They will be given the applications, asked to submit the filled-in-forms, after which their details will be recorded.
