Kochi: Four more days to go before a deadline for LPG consumers to link their bank accounts to continue to avail subsidy for gas cylinders, 18.88 percent of domestic consumers in Kerala are yet to do so. As per the data available with oil marketing companies, only 59,81,493 of the 73,73,794 consumers in the state have linked their Aadhaar numbers with bank accounts or submitted their bank account details to the LPG dealer or details of the LPG connection to the bank. A deadline ends on February 15 Sunday.

Indian Oil Corporation has 39,04,148 consumers under 253 dealers in the state. As per the latest available data, 31,27,592 of them are eligible for continued subsidy. Bharat Petroleum Corporation has 21,96,155 consumers under 151 dealers, of which 17,99,442 are eligible for subsidy. Hindustan Petroleum Corporation has 12,73,491 consumers under 108 dealers, of which 10,54,459 are eligible for subsidy.

Consumers can link their Aadhaar number, or only LPG ID for those who have not yet received Aaadhar number, to their accounts with any of the 320 scheduled or nationalised banks. The government has published a list of banks that are included in the programme .Each domestic consumer has to pay Rs 622 when an LPG cylinder is delivered, as per current market prices. Those who have submitted the necessary documents will receive Rs 174 in their bank accounts as subsidy. A one-time advance will be sent to the bank as soon as the bank account is linked to the LPG connection.Subsidy will be limited to only those who have linked their Aadhaar number to their bank accounts once the allocation of the number is completed.
Three ways to ensure subsidy

  1. Link you Aadhaar number with your LPG number. Give the number to your LPG dealer, who will give a form which has to be submitted along with your Aadhaar number in the bank where you hold an account.
  2. Those who do not have an Aadhaar number yet can give details of their bank accounts to the LPG dealer in a prescribed form which is also available on [www.mylpg.in].

  3. Find your 17-digit LPG ID and give it in your bank in a prescribed form. (You can find your LPG ID on your bill. You can search for your ID on the www.mylpg.in in website or by sending an SMS to the oil marketing companies.)
