Pune: About 88% LPG customers in the city and its rural parts have submitted their bank/Aadhaar details to cooking gas agencies for the modified direct subsidy transfer. March 31 is the deadline.
District collector Saurabh Rao on Tuesday said the administration has not received any further extension for the enrolment. The remaining customers are expected to submit their details within the deadline. There are about 24 lakh registered LPG customers in the district, Rao said.
Authorities in the administration said the percentage would go up to 92% next week. The rest should submit their applications to the gas agencies before March 31.
Besides seeding of bank accounts for subsidy transfer, the administration has planned an extensive programme to increase enrolment for Aadhaar. The administration would receive about 100 more machines by March-end. From April 1, the administration will launch a revised programme in which the machines will go to every taluka in the rural parts and every ward in the city areas for enrolment.
At present, the administration has 84 machines for Aadhaar enrolment. Over 68% people in the district have registered for Aadhaar. Of the 100 additional machines, 45 machines will be procured from Solapur district, 30 from Sindhudurg and 25 from Raigad district.
Meanwhile, officials said 165 people were recently trained to handle Aadhaar machines and will be deployed in the special drive from April 1.
