To keep a check on duplication of votes, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has ordered linking of elector's photo identity card (EPIC) with Aadhaar card.
All booth-level officers of Ludhiana district would organise special camps on June 14 (Sunday) to update details such as the Aadhaar card number, mobile number and email addresses of voters. The booth-level officers would remain stationed at the camps from 10 am to 5 pm.

Additional deputy commissioner (development)-cum additional district electoral officer, Supreet Singh Gulati said the linking of Aadhaar card with EPIC would check duplication of votes. He said the ECI had started the National Electoral Rolls Purification and Authentication Programme' (NERPAP).
He said, "If any person is having more than one vote in any area of the district, the voter can get it deleted by filling form no. 7."He said if a voter wants to make a correction, he can fill form no. 8. To get the vote transferred to some other address, form no. 8 A could be filled.
He said to get EPIC linked with Aadhaar, voters can call at toll-free number 1950 and provide EPIC and Aadhaar card numbers. If the voter wants to submit his Aadhaar card by SMS, then he would have to type, ECILINK EPICNUMBER AADHAAR NUMBER and send it to 51969. Voters can also log on to ECI website, www.eci.nic.in or at http://nvsp.in/qy.
The ADC (D) has appealed to all voters in the district to visit the polling booths on June 14 to make use of the facility.
