8123 - RK Nagar Final Roll to be Out on June 10 - New Indian Express

CHENNAI:  Chief Electoral Officer Sandeep Saxena on Monday said that the final electoral roll for RK Nagar Assembly constituency would be released on June 10, the last date for filing nominations for the by-election scheduled for June 27. 
Answering queries of mediapersons at the Secretariat, the CEO said around 1,500 personnel would be engaged in electoral duties and an equal number of police personnel would also be engaged for security arrangements.

He further said that senior IAS officer, Dr Raju Narayaswamy from Kerala, had been appointed as the General Observer for the by-election and that he would be commencing his work within a day or two in RK Nagar constituency.

On the National Electoral Roll Purification and Authentication Programme, the CEO said so far Aadhaar Numbers had been given to 3.65 crore people in Tamil Nadu and of this, 2.70 crore had submitted details of their Aadhaar number to the Election Department. 

Responding to a question, the CEO said the Central and State governments were planning to cover all families having ration cards under the Aadhaar programme and recently, a meeting was held at the Secretariat in this regard. 


Taking bio-metric machines to all villages to cover these families was discussed at that meeting.
