10102 - Two-month extension for gender resources centres - The Hindu

NEW DELHI, June 3, 2016

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government has decided to give a two-month extension to the Gender Resource Centres (GRCs), a flagship programme launched under the erstwhile Congress-led regime. This was done after a delegation of affected employees from these centres called on Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.

According to a government official, the AAP govt has issued directions to the effect that financial dues of persons employed at these centres be cleared at the earliest.

Last month Mission Convergence (Samajik Suvidha Sangam), which functions under the Delhi government, had issued an order directing the discontinuation of GRCs and district resource centre projects under it from May 31, a move which did not go down well with several social activists

In the past, GRCs have been utilised by the government to facilitate the common man’s access to initiatives such as Annashree cards, Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojana and the Aadhaar card, and thereafter, for the PM’s Jan Dhan Yojana.
