10103 - Plea to extend date for linking Aadhaar with PDS - The Hindu

MANDYA, June 4, 2016

Request for extension:Ration dealers submitting a memorandum to Deputy Commissioner M.N. Ajay Nagabhushan, in Mandya district on Friday.

Members of the Mandya district ration dealers’ association have urged the State government to extend the deadline for linking Aadhaar numbers with ration card details.
The Department of Food and Civil Supplies had asked the Public Distribution System (PDS) beneficiaries to link their details by June 15. However, of the total beneficiaries of 20.40 lakh in Mandya district, only around 84 per cent have linked their details.
As a good number of beneficiaries are yet to do so, the dealers met Deputy Commissioner M.N. Ajay Nagabhushan at his office here on Friday.
They said that the remaining beneficiaries would face difficulties in receiving the PDS benefits.

Therefore they requested the government to give them some more weeks to link the Aadhaar numbers with ration card details.
Later, the dealers submitted a memorandum to Minister of State for Food and Civil Supplies Dinesh Gundu Rao through Mr. Nagabhushan.
Meanwhile, Kumuda Sharath, Deputy Director, Food and Civil Supplies, has requested the beneficiaries to link their details as soon as possible. The State government, as per the Supreme Court’s directive, has decided to weed out bogus ration cards and hence had directed the ration card beneficiaries to link their Aadhaar numbers with ration card details by June 15, she explained.
