BANGALORE: What will Re 1 fetch these days? Well, this is the amount a verifier will get as an incentive for enrolling a person for the Unique Identity (UID) or Aadhaar in Karnataka.
After the empowered committee on implementation of UID in Karnataka, headed by chief secretary S V Ranganath, approved this proposal, the cabinet last week gave the green signal for Re 1 as incentive for the verifier. Bangalore, home to Unique Identity Authority of India chief Nandan Nilekani, will get its Aadhaar from June 1.
The IT city, which has been kept out of the second phase of the UID roll-out in the state, will figure in the last phase, starting first week of June. After Tumkur and Mysore, the two districts chosen in the first phase in October, the government will roll out Aadhaar in eight districts, starting April 1. Two districts from each of the four revenue divisions will be chosen in the second phase. The districts are: Kolar, Shimoga, Dakshina Kannada, Mandya, Dharwad, Bijapur, Gulbarga and Raichur.
"The empowered committee has cleared calling for proposals for all four divisions. Wipro Technologies and Comat were chosen as implementing agencies for Tumkur and Mysore respectively. However, the committee has included a new clause, according to which, the contract of the implementing agency will be terminated in the event of non-adherence to process requirement," sources informed.
The e-governance department, the nodal agency in the state for the project, will finalize the private agency for enrolling citizens' data.

The committee has identified eight major services, details of which are to be produced before the enumerators:
* Social security pension
* Irrigation pumpset
* Bhagyalakhmi scheme
* Incentives to milk producers
* National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme
* Ration card
* LPG
* Bank account
SEVEN MINUTES TO ENROL
The selected agencies will put up enrolment stations, depending on the population in various places, and start enrolling. It takes seven minutes to enrol a person and 70 people can be enrolled per day. Biometric devices such as iris scanner, fingerprint scanner and face camera will capture data. This apart, name, age or date of birth, gender, address and father's name will be recorded at the time of enrolment.
